چکیده

ICAR Technical Series No 3 In the last two decades total milk production has almost doubled while the heads of cattle have increased by 28 percent in developing countries (FAO, 1999). There is a large variation among regions. The Far East region shows the sharpest production increase, also per capita, while Africa and the Near East show the largest increase in heads of cattle but a continuous decrease in per capita supply of milk. Thus, improved milk production is very important in many of the lesser-developed countries.

Current Status and Future Prospects for Reproductive Technologies in Small Ruminants

INTRODUCTION Reproductive technologies such as artificial insemination (AI) and multiple ovulation and embryo transfer (MOET) have been technically feasible and commercially utilized in small ruminants for many years (reviewed by Betteridge 1981; Evans 1991; Salamon and Maxwell 2000). Sheep and goats are major contributors to the domestic economy of many nations, but neither AI nor MOET has bee...

Effect of prostaglandin F2α and GnRH administration at the time of artificial insemination on reproductive performance of dairy cows

The present study aimed to determine the effect of administrating prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α) and GnRH at the time of artificial insemination (AI) on the pregnancy per artificial insemination (P/AI) and the pregnancy survival rate of dairy cows. A number of 830 lactating Holstein cows were randomly divided into four groups. Cows in group 1 (n=200) treated with 150 µg d-cloprostenol. In group 2 (n...
